Party Chairman Oliver Dowden addresses Conservative Party Members

Our new Party Chairman, Oliver Dowden CBE, has written directly to Party members to talk about his plans for the time ahead and to encourage members to attend Party conference. Here's what he had to say.

I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself.

I’m Oliver Dowden, the new Chairman of the Conservative Party.

It’s an honour to take on this role and continue the great work of our party.

We’ve got a big task ahead. I’m looking forward to meeting the members and volunteers who drive our campaigns, and who help us win.

So are you joining us at Conference, Reuben? You can still buy a ticket — or book a virtual place for free.

Thousands of members, elected representatives and the wider Conservative family will be joining us in Manchester. Others will be joining us virtually from the comfort of their own homes.

Whichever option works best for you, I hope you’ll attend.

Conference is a chance for our party to lay out our plans for the future.

You’ll get to catch up with fellow members, attend key fringe events and hear about what we’re doing to build back better and level up across the country.

I’ll be in Manchester, and I hope I’ll see you too — either in-person or online.

It’s truly an honour to be Chairman of our great party. And with the serious work ahead of us, I am looking forward to working with you as a member.

You can still book your tickets to Conference – just click here to register for our best Conference yet.

Commenting, Therese Coffey, Secretary of State for the Department of Work and Pensions, said:

“Corbyn’s Pension Tax will see ten million savers facing a huge bill forcing them to delay their retirement for almost three and a half years.
“This is just one of the ways a Corbyn government would hammer hardworking people on top of his plans to hike up taxes by £2,400 a year, as well as the cost of his plan for unlimited immigration and the chaos of 2020 being dominated by two more referendums – one on Brexit and another on Scottish independence.
“Only Boris Johnson and the Conservative Party can get Brexit done with a deal, get parliament working again and turbocharge our economy to unleash Britain’s potential.”
