It’s essential that we all pull together as part of the national effort. Together, we can protect the most vulnerable, reduce pressures on our NHS and care system so we can save lives.
That's why this Government has called on the nation to sign up to become an NHS Volunteer Responder and join an army of over 400,000 volunteers helping the most vulnerable people in our communities.
These volunteers will help support the 1.5 million extremely vulnerable people who have been asked to stay at home to shield themselves from coronavirus for twelve weeks. They will make a real difference to some of the households who have been most affected by the outbreak – from delivering essential prescriptions to calling to check on the wellbeing of those self-isolating.
The most important thing everyone must do to stop the spread of the virus is continue to follow the latest public health advice – which is to stay at home, to protect the NHS and save lives. However, if you want to help those who need it during these difficult times, become a volunteer to help the most vulnerable in our society.
Members of the public can sign up quickly and easily at goodsamapp.org/NHS to become NHS Volunteer Responders, and can be called on to do simple but vital tasks such as:
• delivering medicines from pharmacies
• driving patients to their appointments
• bringing patients home from hospital, and
• making regular phone calls to check on people isolating at home.
Your NHS needs you. Over 405,000 people have already signed up to be volunteers for the NHS. Go to goodsamapp.org/NHS to sign up and help make a difference, today.
Commenting, Therese Coffey, Secretary of State for the Department of Work and Pensions, said:
“Corbyn’s Pension Tax will see ten million savers facing a huge bill forcing them to delay their retirement for almost three and a half years.
“This is just one of the ways a Corbyn government would hammer hardworking people on top of his plans to hike up taxes by £2,400 a year, as well as the cost of his plan for unlimited immigration and the chaos of 2020 being dominated by two more referendums – one on Brexit and another on Scottish independence.
“Only Boris Johnson and the Conservative Party can get Brexit done with a deal, get parliament working again and turbocharge our economy to unleash Britain’s potential.”
